Episode 1: ** Remastered ** The Bell Island Boom

Release Date: October 5, 2020

Crissy and Barry ponder what could have caused a mysterious BOOM over the Bell Island in April of 1978. Was it natural? Was man-made? Was it a heavenly bowling tournament? Who tried to figure it out and what do the experts think? How can Barry weave wrestling into the conversation? All these questions and more are explored in “The Bell Island Boom”.

Episode 2: The Fairies of Newfoundland

 Release Date: October 10, 2020

Forget the Tinkerbell image of fairies and join Crissy and Barry as they expose the dark side of the Newfoundland Fairies. Be careful of fairy paths when you are out in the woods and whatever you do, do not allow yourself to be found without a shovel! Also, what is the deal with bread? Find out in "The Fairies".

  

Episode 3: Sleep Paralysis: The Old Hag

Release Date:  October 19, 2020

Get ready for the creeps as Crissy and Barry get personal with their experiences with sleep paralysis or, as it is called in Newfoundland, The Old Hag. In this nightmare fuel episode, they look at its origins across multiple cultures, what the heck is going on when we sleep and dream, and how can we prevent this terrifying encounter from happening. Oh! And they have a special mystery guest!

 

Episode 4: Newfoundland: Strange But True Part 1

Release Date: October 26, 2020

 In Part 1 of Strange But True, Crissy and Barry cover 5 of their top 10 picks for weirdest stories from ‘The Rock’. We’ve got moose, mysterious coffins, unsettling happenings in old graveyards, possibly evolved morally conscious rats, and some very strange weather.

Episode 5: Newfoundland: Strange But True Part 2

Release Date: November 2, 2020 

…And we’re continuing with our final 5 of 10 top picks for the weirdest Newfoundland stories. Crissy and Barry ask themselves what went on in that cabin in the woods? We have a science-y story about long lost DNA and another about the Newfoundland accent. We give our love to the Merb’ys and, of course, get a wrestling story in there.

 

Episode 6: Hidden Places

Release Date: November 9, 2020 

A designated demon retreat and an ancient settlement hidden in plain site for centuries are two of the places the Crissy and Barry explore in this episode. Why is the poor maid dragged into this hellscape and can legends sometimes be true? Find out in  “Hidden Places”.

 

Episode 7: Cryptids of Newfoundland

Release Date: November 16, 2020 

The world is full of mysteries. Who knows what undiscovered beasts are wandering in the nooks and crannies of Earth? In this episode, Crissy and Barry look at the cryptids of the land and sea of Newfoundland and Labrador. They also reminisce about safety videos from the 1980s – who was the honker? And give a terrible book review of “The Lord of the Rings”. Why? It all ties in somehow.

Episode 8: Ghosts and Haunted Places of Newfoundland

Release Date: November 23, 2020

This is their weirdest episode to date! Join Crissy and Barry for the spoooooookiest ghosts and haunted places of Newfoundland. They go back to Bell Island to see how WWII era Germans and the fairies worked to create the legend of the Ghost of Dobbin’s Garden. Then, back to St. John’s to visit The Duke of Duckworth and The Four Sisters which are considered to be a couple of the most haunted locations in North America’s oldest city. Throw in a ghost from one of Newfoundland’s many resettled communities, a completely fictional ghost in one of Memorial University’s residence houses and some strange happenings during the recoding of this episode and you’ll see why they scared themselves.

Episode 9: UFOs

Release Date: December 7, 2020 

Are we alone in the universe? At least one RCMP officer and one media mogul from Newfoundland think not. In this episode, Crissy and Barry discuss UFO sightings in Newfoundland and Labrador including the famous 1978 Clarenville sighting by a respected policeman. Are all of those strange things in the sky weather balloons, meteors, airplanes or visitors from another planet?

 

Episode 10: ** Remastered ** The Christmas Mummers

 Release Date: December 21, 2020

Happy Holidays to all! As we all gear up to wind down this dumpster fire of a year Crissy and Barry talk about Christmas Mummering in Newfoundland, a truly unique tradition of dressing up in the craziest of homemade disguises and traveling house to house performing and dancing for payment of booze and Purity syrup. Sounds fun, right? But, as always, there is a darker side. What happened to make this Christmastime tradition illegal for 100 years and how do horse skulls fit in?

 

Episode 11: The Sea Word

 Release Date: January 18, 2021

The final episode of Season 1 is all about the sea. No force has shaped the history and culture of Newfoundland and Labrador more that the sea from the bounty it provides to the disasters that humble us and make us resilient. Join us as we share tales of ghost ships, daring rescues and a shipwreck that became a landmark for those of us with directional dyslexia.
