Episode 1: New Brunswick

New Brunswick is one of the four OG provinces that formed Canada on July 1, 1867. In this episode, we tell you all about the legend of the Dungarvan Whooper. This is just one of the many tales from the lumber camps that dotted the forests of NB in the 1800s but is this one true? Some folks are certainly convinced it is … or they choose to err cautiously so they do not accidentally taunt the Whooper. We then tell a very real story of sabotage from WWI. Maybe the cold Canadian winter was our best ally in this plot of international intrigue.
Episode 2: Nova Scotia

Donairs, explosions, poltergeists and the hairy man! In this episode, we get into the weird side of the second of the four original provinces. Is there a benevolent Sasquatch-esque being roaming the wilds of Cape Breton? Did a pyromaniacal ghost haunt a young woman in Amherst? Probably. Episode 3: Ontario

In this episode we travel to the most populous province in Canada: Ontario. You’ll learn important life lessons like why you should not play with dynamite and how to prevent the undead from rising from their graves to suck your blood. Crissy exposes her dark fascination with Sesame Street and Barry lays out all the practical and inexpensive ways to deal with vampires. We also have a listener story about the ghost light of Port Perry!
Episode 4: Quebec

It is time to visit Quebec. While it’s known as the French province there is so much more that makes this slice of Canada unique. We talk about a decapitated sex worker who is seen every seven years in Montreal and how the demand for fancy hats helped shape a brand new version of the werewolf. Of course, what would this episode be without terrible French pronunciations and an exploration of that liquid gold: maple syrup.
Episode 5: Manitoba

Are badgers capable of empathy? What would they feed a human child if the need should ever arise? In this episode, we discuss these questions and we explore one of the most well-documented cases of a UFO sightings in history: The Falcon Lake Incident. Plus, we check out a haunted theater and get to some deep soul-searching with questions like where we’d like to haunt if we become ghosts. Episode 6: Northwest Territories

North of 60 is a unique land of magic and mystery. In this episode, we tell you the story of the Dene folk hero Yamǫ́rıa who rid the north of scary giant beavers. Evidence of his adventures still dot the land of the Northwest Territories. Then, we take a morbid turn into greed and mystery with stories of the Headless Valley. Were these decapitated people victims of an evil spirit? A serial killer? Did they cross paths with the Mad Trapper of Rat River? We may never know but we do know that these stories are some weird.
Episode 7: British Columbia

In this episode we are in the most westerly province in Canada. The stories from our Pacific Northwest are some weird. If you’ve ever wanted to know the full story of train robber Bill Miner made famous by one of the National Film Board of Canada’s Vignettes from back in the day you have come to the right place. Ever hear about loose feet washing up on the shores? You will here! How about Mandy the haunted doll? We’ll just be chilling out here in the Uncanny Valley while we discuss the origins of this creepy doll and why dolls are creepy in the first place.

Episode 8: Prince Edward Island

We explain just who Prince Edward was as we reminisce about driving to the smallest province in a Chevette and about the deliciousness that is Cow’s Ice Cream! Good Times! Do you like stories about ghosts haunting the places of their Earthly demise? We got ‘em! Did you know that fairy lore is as strong on the small island as it is on the big island? The story of the Kelly fairy is as tragic as it is darkly hilarious.
Episode 9: Yukon Territory

You know about the Klondike Gold Rush … or do you? The true story of the weirdest gold rush and the colourful characters that were attracted to (or products of) this definitive part of Yukon history are explored in this episode. The seemingly magical draw of all that fortune persists well over 100 years later and that idea led a marketing executive in the 1950s to dream up one of the most successful advertising campaigns ever to sell breakfast cereal. The impact of that super-weird campaign is still felt today.
Episode 10: Alberta
June 7, 2021
Alberta is a province with oil, cowboys, Rocky Mountains, North America’s largest shopping mall and tons of wrestlers. It also has its fair share of weird stories from a man who dreamt of his brother’s murder to a ghost town that is completely underwater. Even though it is landlocked, it has its very own mermaid (merman?) and, of course, a wild man that roams the forested areas.
Episode 11: Saskatchewan

On September 1, 1905, Saskatchewan became Canada’s 9th province. Here, in the land of the Wheat Kings, a lot of weird things have happened and in this episode we’ll share a couple of our favourites. First, there is the incredible story of the madman/genius/prophetic letter writer Tom Sukanen who dedicated his life to building a boat with his own two hands to sail from landlocked Saskatchewan to Finland. Then, we take a dark turn into a story of Satanic Panic that caused what would become known as the Martensville Nightmare.
Episode 12a: Newfoundland and Labrador Part 1

We have finally made it home. Our province, Newfoundland and Labrador, joined Canada in 1949 with its own fully formed society. Many aspects of our cultural heritage persist today including our language and folklore. In this episode we share listener stories including death tokens, a ghostly chicken, the Old Hag and more.
Episode 12b: Newfoundland and Labrador Part 2

The stories from Newfoundland and Labrador continue with Part 2 of our home province. Here, we’ll share stories of heroes and legends from the Newfoundland Rangers to the rescue of almost 200 Americans from their shipwrecked Truxtun and Pollux by civilians in a small outport community to the possibly supernatural origins of Father Duffy’s Well. Then, we are so proud to bring you folklore and tradition specifically from Labrador. Ever hear of the evil polar bear the Nanurluk? What about the tradition of Nalujuk Night? You better watch out, you better not cry or you’ll face the Nalujuk on Old Christmas Day.
Episode 13: Nunavut

We have finally made it to the last territory to join the country of Canada. Created in 1999, Nunavut is the largest territory but has the smallest population and is full of wonderful stories. We’ll get philosophical with the meaning of dreams and the concept of the soul(s). We’ll get the nearest to heaven (or at least to Mars) on Devon Island. And we’ll theorize what might have caused an unusual ping in the Fury and Hecla Straight. We hope you enjoy this final episode for Season 2: The Great Weird North.
